127 - SAINT JOHN BAPTIST PIAMARTA

Piamarta John the Baptist was born in Brescia November 26, 1841 into a poor family and is one of the leading figures in the second half of the nineteenth century. Piamarta father died April 25, 1913 in Remedello, after a life spent in the service of God and neighbor. In 1926 his body was translated to the church of the Workmen he built in 1986, the Church recognizes the heroic virtues and October 12, 1997 Pope John Paul II declared him Blessed. On October 21, 2012 Pope Benedetto XVI declared him Saint. The liturgical celebration is April 26.
